L.A. Witch Mississippi Studios – Sold-Out Portland Show 4/21/25
L.A. Witch rolled into Portland on April 21st, riding high on the release of their brand-new record “DOGGOD” , and left Mississippi Studios cloaked in feedback and the afterglow of a hypnotic, full-throttle set.
Touring in support of their latest album — a brooding, more sharpened evolution of their sound — the Los Angeles trio packed the room wall to wall with die-hard fans and curious newcomers alike. The show sold out in advance, and by the time the band hit the stage, the air was thick with sweat and distortion.
They wasted no time pulling the crowd into their vortex. Tracks off the new record hit hard — gritty, sludgy, and laced with menace — while older staples landed like sucker punches from the past. Sade Sanchez’s guitar cut through the neon lights like a blade, Irita Pai’s bass held down the low end like a heartbeat in a fever dream, and Ellie English’s drums hit with the precision of a swinging hammer.
Opening the night, Austin psych-rockers DAIISTAR set the tone with walls of fuzz and a fever-dream vibe that paired perfectly with the slow-burning intensity of the headliners.
L.A. Witch doesn’t do spectacle — they do atmosphere. And on this night, the atmosphere was thick, loud, and absolutely electric. Whether you were front row or back by the bar, you felt it in your chest: this wasn’t just a concert, it was a séance.
