DAIISTAR Live at Mississippi Studios – 4/21 /25
On April 21st, Austin-based shoegaze psych-rock band DAIISTAR opened for L.A. Witch at a sold-out show at Mississippi Studios in Portland, Oregon — and they absolutely leveled the room.
With a sound that lands somewhere between The Jesus and Mary Chain, & Spiritualized, the neon fever dream, DAIISTAR delivered a fuzz-drenched, hypnotic set that kicked the night off in full-blast technicolor. Opening with swirls of feedback and punchy, rhythmic synths, their set immediately grabbed the packed crowd — pulling them into a haze of distortion and groove.
Tracks like “Parallel” and “Star Starter” were standouts, mixing shoegaze textures with garage-psych propulsion. Their wall of sound was thick, but not muddy — every layer buzzed with clarity and intention. Live, DAIISTAR feels like a transmission from a late-night station you can’t quite place on the dial. There’s nostalgia baked in, but it’s forward-facing and loud as hell.
The crowd, already buzzing for L.A. Witch, was fully locked in for DAIISTAR — proof that even as openers, they’re commanding attention and earning it.
If you’re a fan of noise-laced melodies, pedal worship, and dreamy chaos, put DAIISTAR on your radar immediately. Portland showed up early, and it was worth every second.
