The Secret Light at Star Theater – 4/20/25
Portland had a pulse on 4/20 — and it was coming straight from the glowing, synth-laced heart of The Secret Light. The band brought their post-punk/darkwave power to Star Theater, casting shadows and strobes across the room in a set that felt like a haunted dance party in the best way.
Drenched in lights, fog, and just the right amount of chaos, their performance was theatrical and tight. They had the crowd swaying like ghosts in unison. Every song felt like it could score the climactic scene of a dystopian romance.
With vintage synth textures, darkly glammed-out style, and vocals that cut through like a flicker on VHS, The Secret Light knows exactly what they’re doing. They lean into drama without losing control. Think: Bauhaus meets Depeche Mode with a dash of sci-fi noir.
The whole set felt like a secret you wanted to keep — but couldn’t help but share.
